Apiary

The Gregynog Apiary was created in 2010 and aims to maintain at least six colonies in British National hives.

The apiary is primarily a training facility for members, from hands-on basic training for beginners to development and preparation for exams for the more experienced beekeepers. There will normally be at least one session running per month, usually on a Sunday morning (but not religiously), with additional sessions run in conjunction with “classroom” training. We also produce starter colonies of locally adapted bees for members and any honey produced is sold in the Gregynog shop, all of which helps offset the apiary costs.
